His journey began with an illustrious academic career, graduating from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune in 1966. This was the foundation of a remarkable career that has spanned continents and decades.
Dr. Chacko's early professional years were marked by his dedicated service in the Indian Army Medical Corps. His quest for excellence then took him to the Armed Forces of Oman, where he served with distinction and eventually became the Chief Medical Officer of the Royal Oman Police, achieving the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
In 1980, Dr. Chacko's pursuit of advanced medical knowledge led him to the United Kingdom. There, he earned a Gold Medal in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from Liverpool, and attained a double MRCP from both the UK and Ireland, further solidifying his expertise and commitment to medical science.
Upon returning to India, Dr. Chacko dedicated himself to improving healthcare in his homeland. He served as the Honorary Consultant Physician at Mandiram Hospital until 1993 and as the Director of Cheriapally Hospital in Kottayam, where his leadership and vision greatly enhanced the quality of care.
In 1984, driven by a vision to provide top-tier laboratory diagnostics to central Kerala, Dr. Chacko founded the Modern Diagnostic Centre. Under his guidance, the center quickly grew, embracing new technologies such as ultrasound and fully automated diagnostic machines. By 2000, it had evolved into a chain of diagnostic centers equipped with state-of-the-art investigatory facilities.
Dr. Chacko's contributions extend beyond medicine. He is an active member of the governing bodies of various schools and hospitals and is deeply involved in several cultural and social organizations. His leadership and service are also reflected in his tenure as a past Worshipful Master of the Lodge in Kottayam.
